Lyne Guest House

Amazing weekend in Oxfordshire. My wife and I visited Lyme house for a birthday weekend getaway from London. We arrived late on Friday, accompanied by freezing temperatures and buckets of rain. The welcome (and the weekend that followed) was the opposite. Marilyn and Meridith are such wonderful hosts that we immediately felt at home. Our room was cosy and warm and came complete with one of a trio of adorable cats (on rotation of course). After an amazing night's sleep we were awoken by the smell of bacon and egg being made ready. We sat down to a fantastic English Breakfast paired with loads of local walking advice. Our weekend days were filled with walks, fresh air and the gorgeous Oxford scenery. While the evenings were a mix of lovely restaurants and pubs and perfect family hospitality. Thanks so much to Marilyn and Meridith. We can't wait to come back.

‘What a Haven’ …tucked away and so very beautiful. It truly exceeded our expectations and we hope to return. The owners, Marilyn and Meredith were so welcoming and a joy to be with. They were so thoughtful and we definitely felt very at home. The property itself is stunning and steeped in history so I was in my element. Our room was beautiful and very comfortable and we overlooked the courtyard and could hear the delightful sound of running water from the ponds. The window seat would be the perfect place to sit and read had we had more time….next time ! Breakfast was absolutely delicious and made with the finest of ingredients . There was off road parking and the property is so well situated for visiting Blenheim Palace and Oxford, in fact you can jump on a bus which runs every half hour should you wish to leave your car. What a find this was and our stay at Lyne House and meeting Marilyn & Meredith was the ‘icing on the cake’ !

Quintessential Country Escape We felt absolutely at home, the moment we were greeted by Marilyn at the door! Lyne House provides an idyllic country getaway from the hustle and bustle of London - plentiful surrounding country walks, fireside pubs and the palace grounds to get lost in... The house has been beautifully restored into a charming B&B while keeping all of its historical wood paneling and stone features, which we loved! The hosts were fantastic and we hope to visit Lyne House again soon.

Extremely friendly and helpful owner. The rooms are excellent and breakfast was served on the patio outside. Marilyn and Meredith are great hosts and made us all feel welcome. Highly recommended.

We had such an amazing weekend at Lyne House. The hosts were so accommodating, going out of their way to ensure we had the best time. On arrival, the bride to be (we were on a hen do) was welcomed with a box of chocolates, prosecco and a tray of handmade cakes to celebrate - a lovely touch! The house itself was full of character, you instantly felt at home. The bedrooms were spacious and very comfortable. The hot tub was great fun and there are lots of things to do in the local area (we went on a nice walk along the canal). Would definitely recommend staying here!

Delightful hosts, couldn’t be more accommodating, exceedingly clean, delicious breakfast, very convenient location to Oxford and Blenheim palace, a home from home retreat, definitely come back.

Stunning accommodation, really homely and warm. Lots of interesting things to look at, the comfiest beds and the kindest hosts. Will definitely being staying here again.

On 6th August we said ‘I do’ in iur civil ceremony at Lyne house. We were lucky enough to have found Marilyn & Meredith and their stunning guest house on AirBnB and knew right away that we wanted this to be our wedding day venue! They have gone absolutely above and beyond, helped us with their trusted hire company, hog roast supplier & poured their hearts into making our day magical. We rented the whole guest house for us and our closet family and the garden and marquee were a wedding wonderland of fairy lights. (Keep an eye our for pictures in the coming weeks once our photographer has edited our love day pictures). We cannot thank our lovely hosts enough for making the weekend unforgettable and helping us along the way for months with planning and organising! We can’t wait to come back for wedding anniversaries & family get togethers! (By the way, the cutest fluff balls were the biggest cuddle buddies for all wedding guests, the cutest cats there are!)
